The Games Growth Adverting team is seeking an exceptional Applied Scientist to lead the foundation of a disruptive advertising system set to revolutionize customer acquisition for Game, Media and Entertainment.
This is a great opportunity to work on customer-obsessed science innovation and innovate on the entire breadth of the AdTech funnel. You will work in close collaboration with multiple science teams across Amazon Ads. You will lead the building of a platform that delivers world-class optimization for price, relevance, and reach; enabling marketers to drive user acquisition for games, media and entertainment. The ideal candidate will have a background in NLP or Representation learning or AdTech in production.
Key job responsibilities
* Lead the design and development of large scale, performant machine learning systems in production for various AdTech use cases
* Influence the product roadmap using data backed experiments
* Use prior background in NLP/Representation Learning/large scale deep learning systems to explore the frontiers of supervised/semi-supervised learning enabling generalization across multiple use cases
* Establish scalable, efficient, and automated processes for large scale model development, validation, and implementation
* Mentor junior scientists on the team

Game Growth Advertising applies the principles of Amazonian culture to the world of gaming, media and entertainment user acquisition. We believe in a future where everyone is a gamer and everyone can create, compete, collaborate and connect through games, and we are looking for the right people to help us build that future. We want to be the user acquisition tool of choice for game developers across hardware platforms and gaming genres at scale. Using large scale data and state-of-the-art machine learning techniques, we are excited about shaping the future of programmatic advertising.
* A MS in CS, Machine Learning or in a highly quantitative field.
* 5+ years of relevant experience
* Proven ability to design, develop and deploy large scale machine learning systems in production with strict latency constraints
* Sound theoretical understanding of broad machine learning and statistical concepts.
* Experience in deploying natural language models and building semantic representations.
* Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Java, C++, etc.)
* Coding proficiency in at least one modern deep learning framework (PyTorch, Tensorflow, MXNet)
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Practical experience in several of the following areas: Natural Language Processing, Recommendation Systems, Semantic Representation Learning & Multi-arm bandits
* Experience with digital media, online advertising or retail
* 4+ years of experience working as a Data Scientist or MLE, translating complex business requirements into science requirements and statistical hypothesis
* 5+ years of hands-on experience building predictive /optimization models and running them into production
* Experience in designing statistical/econometric mechanisms to measure incrementality of marketing/advertising systems
* Hands-on experience working with large scale compute and data processing systems (eg. EMR, Spark, etc.)
* Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
* Comfortable working through ambiguity, helping teams progress via data backed statistical hypothesis
The base pay range for this position starts at $167,100.00 (yr). Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
