Job Description

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role 

We’re on a huge growth trajectory, leading New Zealand in decarbonisation with a heap of exciting projects underway and more coming up. To achieve the ambitions of our (frankly very cool) strategy, we knew we needed to dial up our focus on innovation, growth and brand while developing market leading capabilities in data and operational performance. That’s how our Innovation & Growth team was born. 

Reporting into the Insights and Analytics manager The purpose of this role is to be a data reporting guru in all things SQL, pyspark or python as well as data visualisation! 

We are at an exciting point in our data transformation journey and there is huge potential to develop your insight and data story telling ability to build on your existing data skills.  We have a highly supportive data and insight community to help you shine. 

In this role you will be responsible for turning different sources of market and performance data into something tangible for the business to use to make decisions!  

How you’ll do this you ask? Well great question! 

  • Gather and cleanse data 
  • Using Databricks, PowerBI or Excel you will turn data into visuals that the wider team can use, helping to generate actionable insights 
  • Create/update/maintain reports and dashboards 

So, to sum it up your reports, visualisations and dashboards, are going to help the Innovation & Growth team decide the best marketing strategies to achieve Contacts goals.  

Qualifications

How you’ll be successful 

This won’t be your first rodeo! With a decent amount of experience in the below you will be able to talk to times you’ve used data to tell a story! 

  • SQL intermediate+ 
  • Excel 
  • Python/Pyspark 
  • Power BI 
  • Analytical skills working across multiple systems, large datasets, and tools combined with excellent reporting skills 
  • Proven ability to connect and analyse internal and external data sets, such as key performance metrics, media data, Statistics NZ data, and competitor / industry data.
