Job Description

As a MDM Data Management Specialist, you will learn to act as a critical partner between the product owners of our master data systems and the central reference system in Research & Development. You will be working closely with data owners and stewards to ensure data interoperability and data quality across our reference, common vocabulary, and master data systems. 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the advantages of reusing a controlled common vocabulary while ensuring a favorable cost/benefit ratio; will work on continuous improvement of data interoperability and data quality while championing automation, advanced analytics, and machine learning for data management; will advocate the use of external sources of Common Vocabulary (EPPO, ontologies, SciFinder, etc.) to make our data more relevant and operable to the grower.

We all have a critical role to play and add value. Here is how this role will help:

  • Provide leadership in data management such as implementing and promoting data management best practices, Data Governance and Quality Framework 
  • Coordinate data quality curation between Research and Development publishing systems, monitor data flows between systems, run impact assessment, make recommendations for improvements and track remediation 
  • Collaborate with project teams and product owners to maximize the re-use of our controlled common vocabulary and optimize the interoperability of our reference and master data across Research and Development systems 
  • Create guidelines for data structure within an organization to ensure consistency in how information is stored, organized, and accessed 
  • Become the primary contact for business process implementation and change request management 
  • Forges networks of key stakeholders, data stewards and experts in the R&D functions to drive engagement 
  • Define, measure, and monitor KPIs for adoption of controlled vocabulary and success of data harmonization and alignment across systems 
  • Work with business and IT functions to maintain data in the central reference system, fulfill user requests, run user acceptance testing, and provide training & support to users 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of work experience in Master or Reference Data Management  
  • Experience in a life science industry is beneficial  
  • University Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
  • Awareness of advancements in best practices and technologies in Data Management  
  • Fluency in English, additional languages beneficial
