Job summary
Global Advertising Partner Development team is looking for an outstanding Data Engineer to expand our Analytics team aimed at providing data driven business insights to inform our partner development strategy. This highly visible and strategic role will require you to be passionate about dealing with ambiguous business problems, be effective at cross-team collaboration, and passionate about using data to drive decisions. You will need to be savvy about leveraging large data sets and using a broad range of statistical, data mining, and scripting technologies.

Key job responsibilities
• Design and implement data pipelines that will be used by Business Intelligence Engineers and Data Scientists for driving business insights and building ML models.
• Own the technical architecture of our BI and Data platforms.
• Use AWS technologies such as Redshift, Spectrum, S3, EC2, AWS Glue, etc. to optimize storage and compute resources for data infrastructure management.
• Work with the biggest Data Lakes in Amazon to publish the data for our partner teams and consume the data building analytical pipelines.
• Work closely with closely with Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Scientists, and Software Developers to gather data requirements and build data pipelines and data-sets to meet business needs.
• Own and support the management of our Redshift Cluster and Tableau Server infrastructure.

About the team
This role is within Global Advertising Partner Development Analytics team within the Global Advertising and Partner Development organization. We help advertisers and developers to scale their use of Amazon Advertising and grow their business via software tools and marketing/engagement programs that enable developers (internal and external) and partners (agencies and tool providers) to better serve advertiser needs.

Basic Qualifications


  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience in SQL

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics or related discipline
• Detailed knowledge of data warehouses, architecture, infrastructure components, ETL and reporting tools and environments.
• Experience leading large-scale data warehousing and analytics projects, including using AWS technologies – Redshift, S3, EC2, etc.
• Experience using big data technologies (Spark, EMR, etc.).
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Scala, Java, etc.).

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
