Data Scientist, Risk Management

We are looking for a Data Scientist with a passion for applying data science to build models to impact our business.  This role will collaborate with our Product and Risk teams to develop data-driven solutions that ensure we operate our business efficiently and maintain trust with our customers.  We are looking for someone that is interested in full-stack data science development that goes through all phases of business understanding, data preparation, modeling, and deployment.  This role will work closely with product managers and ML Engineers to develop end to end solutions that will be directly delivered to our stakeholders.
As part of the Data Science team, you will be leading data science efforts to creatively solve product challenges.  You will be building models, working with cross-functional stakeholders to solve business problems, working with ML Engineering to deploy models into production, building solutions that reduce risk losses and increase the efficiency of operations. 
Interested candidates should have prior experience building data science models in a professional environment.  Additionally, prior experience working in risk management or fraud prevention is highly preferred. 

What you will be doing:

• Building data science models that will ensure we minimize our risk losses and operate our product efficiently.
• Working in python, R, etc. on our ML platforms (Databricks and Sagemaker) to develop robust, deployable ML models.
• Being a full-stack data scientist working end to end in the development lifecycle of data driven decisions. This means working the full CRISP-DM lifecycle of Business Understanding, Data Understanding, Modeling, Evaluation, and Deployment.  
• Partnering with data analytics teams and ML Engineering teams to ensure robust input data and a scalable and reliable deployment.
• Building models that involve clustering, classification, forecasting, etc. leveraging state of the art, best-in-class approaches. You are expected to spend time in professional development staying informed and up to date on the latest techniques.
• Developing hypotheses, design and run experiments, and work with business partners on recommendations.
• Communicating with product leadership and engineering leadership on opportunities, goals, and progress.

What you should bring:

• A Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, or related quantitative discipline is strongly preferred.
• Prior professional experience with Machine Learning implementations and modeling such as clustering, classification, regression, and forecasting.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R along with associated Data Science and Machine Learning packages.
• Fluent in SQL, have familiarity with ETLs, and can use these skills to build scalable data models against big data.
• Prior experience working with data science in a cloud environment such as Databricks.
• Prior experience working on models from end to end, from ideation to real-world deployment.
• A strong commitment to ethical data use.
• Experience with data science driven risk management is a plus.
