At Janes we are building advanced intelligence solutions for our national security clients, leveraging our state-of-the-art Intara platform to provide market leading intelligence solutions. The US data science team is at the forefront of this mission, focusing on leveraging our open-source intelligence (OSINT) data assets to create tailored solutions for our most critical intelligence customers. We work with massively complex data at scale to provide critical insights and push the boundaries of what is possible.

The Data Scientist is a key member of this team focused on customer-facing data science and data engineering for the national security community. The position is responsible for designing and delivering machine learning (ML) and geospatial data products and solutions to customers and internal Janes analysts.

This position will collaborate closely with our global Development and Technology team to develop ML solutions, leveraging our advanced data platforms and OSINT data assets to create bespoke customer-driven innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • A collaborative team player, able to work with Technology and Product stakeholders to lead data science initiatives to meet internal and customer intelligence requirements
  • Ability to conceptualize, develop, deploy, and maintain data solutions from complex, interconnected data from multiple sources
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and/or computer vision (CV) deep learning
  • Work with the US and Manchester Technology Teams to design and build new data products using data science (ML and geospatial) techniques that combine Janes Intara, raw source data, data from third-party commercial suppliers, and customer data
  • Build and deploy geospatial data analytics solutions
  • Expertise in machine learning/deep learning using frameworks such as PyTorch, Hugging Face, SpaCy, Scikit-learn, and/or TensorFlow

Bonus points for

  • Experience using AWS SageMaker for model development, deployment, and management
  • Experience with pattern of life/activity analysis within a national security context; Activity Based Intelligence workflows
  • Demonstrated experience and/or interest in our customers’ missions within national security and intelligence community
  • Understanding of MLOps frameworks and tools (e.g., MLflow, Weights & Biases, Zen ML, etc.)
  • Effective communication skills, to both capture customer requirements and communicate the value of Janes’ ML and geospatial solutions to customers and key internal stakeholders
