The purpose of the Senior Cloud Database Engineer is to provide tools and capabilities in order to facilitate mission critical Databases in the cloud.

Key accountabilities:

• Work with Architects and implement Cloud Database infrastructure following best practices and industry standards utilizing AWS cloud technologies & services
• Create reusable Infrastructure as Code & Pipeline as Code patterns for managing Cloud Database life cycles
• Provide technical expertise to Engineering teams to facilitate deployment of Cloud Databases in a reliable, stable, secured manner with accelerated delivery
• Design Cloud Database guidelines, standards, best practices and operational readiness model
• Be an evangelist and help promote adoption of Cloud Database technologies and services

Success Criteria

• Secure, hIghly available, fault tolerant cloud Database clusters that can meet steep RPO and RTO SLAs
• Reusable Infrastructure as Code & Pipeline as Code patterns for managing Cloud Database life cycles

Must Haves

• Experience running mission critical Databases in AWS: deployment, security, resource & capacity management, tuning, backups, monitoring, logging, auditing, upgrades
• Experience with core AWS platform architecture
• Experience with AWS services: RDS, RDS Proxy, Aurora, KMS, Secrets management, EC2, SSM, EBS, EFS, ECS, EKS, Cloudformation
• Experience with DevOps, Infrastructure as Code & Pipeline as Code: AWS Database life cycle automation utilizing Terraform and Jenkins/Buildkite/Github actions
• Experience with SQL: query tuning, SQL scripting, triggers, stored procedures

Good to Haves

• Experience administering on-premises MySQL databases: deployment, security, resource & capacity management, query tuning, backups, monitoring, logging, auditing, upgrades
• Experience with Linux and working in a command line driven environment
