Job Description

Huawei Canada's rapid growth has created an excellent opportunity to build and grow your career and make a big impact to everyone's life! Our Ottawa Research Centre is currently looking to hire a Support Engineer intern for a 4-12month term. An 8-12month term is encouraged. We are looking for highly motivated students to join a strong and reputable team to work on cutting edge research for our Wireless Advanced Systems group.

The team is involved in cutting edge AI (machine, deep, and reinforcement learning) research with applications in network traffic engineering, next generation wireless networks (5g+ and 6G), cloud-RAN, and edge computing in order to forge and formulate innovative ideas, conduct theoretical research, pioneer technological trends, and develop proof of concept demonstrations

The selected students will work closely with senior and highly skilled team members on AI projects. They will actively participate in developing prototypes, implementing proof of concept code, and will use the lab equipment and environment to assist in development of the required software and associated demonstration network. In addition, the selected candidates will also be exposed to and have the opportunity to learn, or refine skills in some or all of the following technologies:

• Deep learning
• statistical learning and Bayesian models
• split learning, federated learning, and transfer learning
• Tensorflow, Keras, and Pytorch
• Recurrent and convolutional neural networks, encoder-decoder structures, generative adversarial networks
• Socket programming

Qualifications

·       Pursuing a degree in computer/electrical engineering, computer science, or related disciplines.

·       A strong background in and a fundamental understanding of ML/DL, and exposure to advanced ML trends (such as federated and transfer learning)

·       Background on networking and 5G (optional, preferred).

·       Strong software design skills, programming background (python, C/C++) and development experience (preferably in a Linux environment).

·       Comfortable working in the lab.

·       Fast learner, highly adaptable, and capable of working in a fast pace research environment.

·       Ability to work on different stages of projects from inception to simulation to proof of concept development.

·       Excellent analytical skills.

·       Excellent communication skills.

·       Results oriented and excellent team player.
