Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Job Description

We're looking for a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to advance the future of Construction Intelligence. As a member of our A.I. team, you'll help deliver the future of our next-generation insights, recommendations, and automated experience roadmaps. In this role, you will also enable A.I. capabilities to everyone in construction on a global platform.

This position will report to the Sr Manager, Engineering - AI, and has the opportunity to work remotely from a U.S., Canada, or U.K. location or in our Carpinteria, CA, New York, NY, or Austin, TX office. We're looking for someone to join our team immediately.

What you'll do:

• Work with large-scale structured and unstructured data, build and continuously improve cutting-edge Machine Learning models for Procore product, business, and operational use cases
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including software engineers, product managers, operations, and data scientists, identifying opportunities for business impact
• Understand, refine, and prioritize requirements for machine learning models, driving engineering decisions and quantifying the overall impact
• Hands-on development, production, and operation of Machine Learning models and pipelines at scale, including both batch and real-time use cases
• Leverage third-party and in-house Machine Learning tools & infrastructure to develop reusable, highly differentiating, and high-performing Machine Learning systems
• Enable fast model development, low-latency serving, and ease of model quality upkeep, including feature platform, model interpretability, hyperparameter optimization, and concept drift detection
• Develop, test, and deploy microservices in a cloud environment (AWS)

What we're looking for:

• 5+ years of industry experience in applied Machine Learning, inclusive M.S. or Ph.D. in relevant fields
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong programming ( Python / Java / C++ or equivalent) and data engineering skills
• Robust understanding of the machine learning and data science technical ecosystems (e.g., Tensorflow, Pytorch, MLflow, Seldon, Kubeflow, Data lakes, Snowflake, SageMaker, Scikit, etc.)
• Deep understanding of Machine Learning best practices (e.g. training/serving skew minimization, A/B test, feature engineering, feature/model selection), algorithms (e.g. gradient boosted trees, neural networks/deep learning, optimization), and domains (e.g. natural language processing, computer vision, personalization and recommendation, anomaly detection)
• Industry experience building end-to-end Machine Learning infrastructure and/or building Machine Learning models
• An understanding of the cost of software development/tech debt and long-term maintenance
• Passion for customers and seeking a deep understanding of end-user problems as well as competitive and market trends in the A.I. space
