Job Description

The Data & AI Platform group is a key component of Visa's Technology organization providing the enabling technology and processes to manage Visa's data assets and deliver innovative information products and services to customers. Areas of focus include Business Intelligence and Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Data Platform as a Service, and Data as a Service. Our portfolio includes over 100 data products for various external clients and internal lines of business.

As a Technical Program Manager for our Data & AI Platform team, you will drive quality and velocity of our technology.  You should be comfortable with owning issues and managing the outcome. You enjoy driving, resolving, facilitating and follow up. You understand the risks and the trade-offs, and are both technical and process focused.

  • You love change. You are ready to challenge the status quo daily to enable a whole new world of data services with these responsibilities:
  • Responsible for execution of one or more medium complexity project(s) and/or Agile teams with frequent guidance from manager or PM lead. Day-to-day accountability for tracking scope, schedule, budget, risks, deployments and communications for projects, initiatives, and smaller programs.
  • Persistently communicates and addresses obstacles delaying projects from delivering against objectives.
  • Effective communication showcased in reporting, notes, documentation, FAQs, escalations, and more.
  • Maintains effective Partner/Stakeholder relationships thru effective Communication and Facilitation
  • Support implementation of Visa PMM required project gates and artifacts. Supports review, sizing and estimation of work based on One Pagers, Epics or CA requirements for AOP/TPIC.
  • As Scrum coach, facilitates multiple teams through the software development life cycle using Agile, Scrum, and Lean practices and works cross-functionally throughout the company to ensure projects are developed and deployed with quality and timely delivery into our production systems.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and ability to understand architectural and technical aspects of Data Platform and/or DevOps projects.
  • Participates in PM relevant improvement initiatives

This position is open to the Austin, TX location only. Relocation assistance is not available for this role.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
∙ 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD in STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math), or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:
∙ 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
∙ You love to make things happen with teamwork and process innovation. You are technical. You are collaborative.
∙ 8 or more years of experience, as Engineering Manager, Scrum Master, Project Manager, Program Manager (or equivalent) or Lead, working with technical teams developing software solutions. Including, 3 or more years of hands-on experience as a Scrum Master, Kanban, or Agile coach.
∙ Demonstrated curiosity and ability to understand and capture notes on architectural and technical aspects of Data and DevOps projects. Continuous learner.
∙ Emerging Technology knowledge of tech stacks (Big Data would be a plus) and some experience with best practices in software engineering practices.
∙ Effective communication skills.
∙ Effective facilitation skills at team level.
∙ One or more Agile certifications: CSM, PMI ACP, ICAgile.
∙ PMP, PRINCE2 or similar detailed knowledge of formal project management processes.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
