ABOUT DATA SCIENCEData Science is at the core of Nielsen’s business. Our 500+ data scientists range from survey methodologists, experimental behaviorists, statisticians, machine-learning modelers, data engineers,and software developers. We drive innovation, new product ideation, experimental design and testing, complex analysis and delivery of data insights around the world.  ABOUT YOUYou’re a visionary who can also execute--you see the possibilities, then create a plan and make it happen. You understand media measurement or are able to quickly pick up domain knowledge on the job. You write production-quality code and enjoy orchestrating your big-data solutions at scale. You’re able to shift gears quickly and adapt to changing circumstances. You also have the communication chops to translate it all into conversation or presentations, connecting strategic objectives to daily work. Seeing the big picture takes attention to detail. You know what’s happening in the data science world and you’re ready to influence what’s next.            ABOUT THE JOBOur team builds methodologies that integrate Nielsen’s state-of-the-art data assets into cutting-edge audience measurement and planning products. The Senior Data Scientist will develop and producionalize data integration models for our content measurement for TV, digital, and radio platforms. Meetings are usually held during standard East Coast working hours; some flexibility may be required for international coordination. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or other STEM fields
  • Proficiency in Python, Spark, or Scala to develop sharable software with the appropriate technical documentation
  • Experience with enterprise data systems
  • Experience with cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Hadoop, Apache Spark, and other big data systems 
  • Experience with Atlassian suite is a plus
  • Experience with statistical and machine-learning models
  • Experience with both designed and organic data
  • 2 or more years work experience in data science
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to explain complex problems to technical and non-technical audiences

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between 100,000 - 300,000, which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location.  The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs.   Nielsen is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
