Our NielsenIQ Technology teams are working on our new Connected platform, a unified, global, open data ecosystem powered by Microsoft Azure. Our clients around the world rely on NielsenIQ data and insights to innovate and grow.

As a Technical Lead working within the data analytics/data science team, you’ll be responsible for empowering a team of smart, highly skilled technologists who are passionate about learning and prototyping cutting-edge technologies. You are skilled in delivering business outcomes using cloud-native technologies including Azure ML, Python, Redis, SQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Jupyter, Spark and other Data Science tools. We value CI/CD in everything that we develop. Our team is co-located and agile, with central technology hubs in Chicago, Madrid, and Chennai.

Job Description

Responsibilities 

  • Manage a small team of back-end software engineers.
  • Lead your team in the architecture, design and development of highly available, low latency, cloud-native python applications.
  • Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot and ensure your team’s adherence to the highest level of quality in writing complex, maintainable code to develop scalable, flexible and user-friendly applications.
  • Manage cross-functional team members and stakeholders throughout projects of varying scope and complexity.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in Python, Spark, SQL, Java, micro-services, big data technology, data modelling, distributed multi-tier systems.
  • Great foundational leadership skills, including experience managing a small team of technologists.
  • Strong fundamentals in back-end software engineering with a proficiency in Python. 
  • Ability to conduct code reviews, troubleshoot code and direct architecture & design decisions.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with experience managing projects of varying scope and scale, preferably in an agile environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of data structures, algorithms and designing for performance, scalability, and availability.
  • Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface across cross-functional technology teams and the business.
  • Minimum B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
