Director of Data Science
We are hiring a Director of Data Science for our Business-to-Consumer organization. This is a leadership position that will have exposure across the entire business, influencing the vision and implementation of machine learning systems that power personalization, growth marketing, display media, and CRM. What You'll Do:
Hire, develop and lead a team of data scientists. You’ll lead through a team of talented managers. Drive decisions and work with multiple product and business teams to prioritize data science initiatives in the Business-to-Consumer space. Drive development of data science practices across TripAdvisor teams. Push adoption of emerging and relevant approaches to solve data science problems. Work with colleagues in data science and engineering to drive best practices in development, testing, and production deployment at scale. Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels across different functional teams. Identify and manage priorities within the context of overall TripAdvisor objectives.
Your team will leverage data and advanced techniques to develop, implement and analyze predictive models that enable data-driven, strategic decision-making. This role requires expertise in a broad range of predictive analytics techniques, and their application to business opportunities. A successful candidate will be organized, creative, and interested in solving business problems using data and analytics. They will have the right mix of analytical, technical, and communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Need:
MS or PhD in a quantitative field.
Demonstrated history of leadership in managing high impact data science and engineering projects either in business or in academia.
5+ years of experience in managing and mentoring a team of data scientists, and Machine Learning managers.
Proven experience with bringing structured thinking in ambiguous problems spaces and delivering solutions.
Proven track record in putting and managing critical Machine Learning service and production.
Solid statistical knowledge and intuition, ideally utilized for experimentation and modeling.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills coupled with strong business acumen, along with the ability to influence peer organizations and executives.
