In this role you will be responsible for manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume data from our security operations platform. You will help drive a deeper understanding of Red Canary’s telemetry, develop and validate predictive machine learning models, improve existing approaches based on statistical methods, and partner with our CIRT to onboard and deploy tooling into production.
If you love data, cyber security, and having a direct impact on stopping cyber attacks at scale this is the role for you!

What You'll Do

  • Work with large, complex data sets.
  • Solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed.
  • Conduct analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.
  • Build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale.
  • Train, validate, and tune predictive models related to data processed through the Red Canary security platform.
  • Translate operational challenges into data pipelines and model frameworks.
  • Deliver value to the business by transforming complex data into meaningful insights to power Red Canary products and customer security outcomes.
  • Develop tooling that integrates into our Detection Engineering processes to help improve process efficiencies.

What You'll Bring

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in Data Science.
  • 6+ year(s) experience developing and deploying code to live production systems, ideally as part of a product team.
  • 5+ years experience with a deep learning framework
  • Has developed and deployed large scale real-time data pipelines and ETL tooling in production for a variety of applications
  • Expert in performant, scalable data warehousing, data modeling and database design
  • Comfortable with web service providers like AWS or GCE
  • Familiar with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and container orchestration
  • Familiar with microservice architecture and REST API design
  • Expert knowledge with statistical tools or packages: Python (strongly preferred; pandas, scipy, numpy, scikit-learn, etc), R
  • Experience with predictive models and performing data analysis
  • Familiarity with deploying and maintaining models and data pipelines (Airflow, Argo, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Experience programmatically structuring and cleaning data, and not just analyzing highly cleaned data sets
  • You're a self-starter, highly accountable and will take ownership of delivering your work
  • Strong understanding of building models, ability to validate and measure efficacy of models via various metrics, and the knowledge to know what metrics make sense for which situation
  • A strong foundation in probability, statistics, and algorithm development
  • Programming skills that allow you to be self-sufficient in handling large datasets (Python, SQL, Scala, Java)
  • Experience with Vector search databases is a plus.
Targeted base salary range: $135,000 - $165,000 + bonus eligibility and equity depending on experience
