StubHub is on a mission to redefine the live event experience on a global scale. Whether someone is looking to attend their first event or their hundredth, we’re here to delight them all the way from the moment they start looking for a ticket until they step through the gate. The same goes for our sellers. From fans selling a single ticket to the promoters of a worldwide stadium tour, we want StubHub to be the safest, most convenient way to offer a ticket to the millions of fans who browse our platform around the world.
While growing our business and product, StubHub has amassed a massive trove of data related to live events, ticket pricing, venue configurations (map / image understanding anyone?), and buyer & seller dynamics. We are seeking applied scientists to build out machine-learning powered systems and applications on our unique data assets that will directly power the growth of StubHub’s online ticketing marketplace. As an ML engineer, you will be responsible for optimizing ML models and pioneering new use cases for machine learning, predictive optimization, and automated decisioning across core parts of the StubHub experience including ranking/relevance of event listings, personalization, ticket pricing and more.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • 4+ years of industry experience in applied machine learning.
  • End-to-end experience with applied machine learning from inception to production including data engineering, analysis, model development, deployment, and ongoing monitoring and maintenance.
  • Strong programming skill (e.g. Python, Scala, C++, C#) and data engineering skills.
  • Ability to leverage your data analysis skills to drive insight and understanding of the problem space and shape the right solution.
  • Experience with multiple modeling approaches (logistic regression, deep learning, tree ensembles) and algorithms and best practices for model development.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams to develop the right product experience and decisioning / optimization systems based on the capabilities of predictive modeling

It would be great to see someone who has:

  • An MS or PhD experience in computer science, statistics or a related quantitative field.

As a Machine Learning Engineer at StubHub, you'll be tasked with:

  • Developing and deploying models that improve ranking / relevance of events, identify listings with the best value, improve return-on-spend for advertising and more.
  • Developing the internal machine learning technology stack and platform to improve iteration speed, reduce cost of feature exploration, ensure reproducibility, and operational excellence.
  • Driving insights from our unique data assets to identify opportunities for impact.
  • Developing decisioning and optimization systems that leverage predictive modeling to improve the quality of the Stubhub experience for both buyers and sellers.

What we offer:

  • An environment where you can quickly grow your skills and knowledge, and have the autonomy to make decisions regarding experiments and tests on a massive scale
  • A+ compensation package, including stock incentives
  • Unlimited PTO, 401k, and Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance
  • Free weekly lunches, a variety of office snacks, cold-brew and kombucha kegs, and team events
