As a lead prototype technician, you will help develop and commercialize state-of-the-art electric vehicle. This position requires an experienced professional with a strong background in diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of luxury electric vehicles. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and be excellent at multi-tasking.

Your role:

  • Lead our team of prototype technicians, work with cross functional teams and dispatch work for technicians, maintain quality control of technician’s work, all with safety first attitude
  • Build and follow process for the teams, document potential issues and improvements
  • Build state of the art automotive prototype vehicle, systems, and subsystems
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicles and bench systems
  • Work efficiently within a multidisciplinary cooperative environment on prototype, pre-production, show, and production vehicles.
  • Critical thinking skills to work without instruction manuals or workbooks
  • Approach problems in a consistent and systematic way
  • Working with engineering to fabricate and/or modify system and subsystem components
  • Maintain a high knowledge level of high voltage, low voltage, and general electric vehicle systems
  • Drive vehicles to evaluate vehicle health status, test features, collect data, to support cross functional team in development and production environment
  • Create and develop service and maintenance documents (service manual procedures, containments, etc.)
  • Organize and participate in continuing education and training, to run the team in efficient and effective ways

Qualifications:

  • Automotive technician degree, certification or equivalent work experience
  • Previous successful team leadership / management experience
  • Extremely high attention to safey and details
  • Willing to work overtime, weekend, etc...
  • Ability to travel
  • Proof of excellence in your past position
  • 5 years Luxury Automobile Technician experience
  • 3 years electric vehicle technician experience
  • You bring your own professional automotive toolbox
  • Attention to detail and passion for creating positive client experiences
  • Able to handle numerous ambiguity projects simultaneously with ease
  • Must possess a valid driver license with good records

Advantageous:

  • Professional Race team experience
  • AA/BS in either Automotive Technology or Business Management, or equivalent work experience
  • OEM Master Technician Certification
  • EPA 609 Certification
  • ASE Certification(s)
  • Understanding Electrical schematics and capability to create simple test boards
  • Working knowledge of CAN communications
  • Fabrication skills (welding, milling, lathe) and wire harness building (soldering, crimping, splicing) etc
