Gridware is on a mission to create a future without wildland fires. We’re a startup building hardware and software that monitors the power grid to prevent and detect faults that lead to wildfire ignition. (More about Gridware below).

To make that happen, we’re currently looking for an excellent software engineer who is action oriented with a deep understanding of data as a resource.


Why do we need you?

We’re at an exciting point where we are ramping up field deployments of our power grid monitoring devices as well as cutting-edge physical experiments to generate large quantities of time-series data in answering critical questions about the grid. We rely on robust infrastructure and software tools to conduct analyes and build inference models that can predict or detect catastrophic grid faults. Insights extracted from data resrouces directly inform our core product and the quality of services delivered to end customers. As an early team member you will have the opportunity to set the foundation for how we work with large-scale data harvested by at-edge systems. You’ll work side-by-side with a highly driven team of mechanical/electrical/software engineers, researchers, and data scientists that have built technologies from satellites and 3D printers to secure operating systems and industrial-scale logistics software.


Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement software systems that support day-to-day data operations
  • Design and productionize tools used by the entire company to ingest and query high-frequency time series data
  • Bring up and maintain cloud infrastructure to supercharge compute-heavy analysis campaigns
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists to build best-practice workflows for managing data resources


Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • B.S. in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with standard tooling, environments, and languages such as pytorch, tensorflow, git, linux, SQL, python, etc.
  • Strong underestanding of available off-the-shelf data platforms, tools, and technologies
  • Experience building cloud infrastructure and data pipelines
  • Highly motivated, self-starting, and able to perform duties without supervision
