DESCRIPTION:

Duties: Conduct deep-dive Macroeconomic analyses on Latin American countries with a focus on generating investment conclusions for local rates and FX markets, including tactical trade ideas and strategic recommendations. Responsible for publishing research reports with views, forecasts and actionable trade recommendations covering local currency bonds, FX and their derivatives (interest rate derivatives, FX options, etc) in the region. Provide trade recommendations ranging from top-down market views to country views to relative value trade ideas. Engage and collaborate with the Emerging Markets Sales & Trading desk to generate insightful data points and potential trade ideas to share with client base, develop new client relationships and reinforce existing ones. Responsible for servicing local and international client base with emphasis in key institutional investors and corporates across Latin America, North America, Europe and Asia. Market views, products, and capabilities to external clients, internal sales and trading teams via published reports, webinars, client roadshows and conferences, etc. Build and manage Latin America FX and rates analytics and quantitative models. Participate in the coordination and planning of regional trips with core LatAm off-shore clients as well as virtual conferences and webcasts with top policy makers in the region. Contribute to the overall success of the Emerging Markets sales desk and regional sales desks, ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Train junior team members and participate in corporate initiatives to increase the visibility and leadership of minorities in the workplace.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree in Public Policy, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or related field of study plus 7 years of experience in the job offered or as a Research Analyst, Market Strategist, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Doctorate (PhD) degree in Public Policy, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Research Analyst, Market Strategist, or related occupation.

Skills Required: Requires five (5) years of experience with the following: Generating strategic trade ideas in Latin America; Covering Latin American macro/fixed income markets focusing in local rates and FX; Macroeconomics, statistics, econometrics, financial economics and fixed income markets; Engaging and marketing strategic investment ideas to institutional clients in Latin America; international financial architecture; compilation and dissemination of international financial statistics; Researching financial market microstructure; Trading financial instruments in emerging markets and developed markets including FX, interest rate derivatives, and bonds; Fixed income instruments and their derivatives in Latin America; economic and financial databases including Haver and Bloomberg; statistical packages including Stata and Python; mentoring, guiding and reviewing the work of junior team members. Requires experience with the following: working in Central Bank or Ministry of Finance in Latin America or financial institution with significant presence in Latin America.

Job Location: 383 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10179. This position requires up to 25% domestic and international travel.

Full-Time. Salary:  $260,000 - $350,000 per year.
