Receives direction from clinical and research project leads (e.g., biostatisticians, bioinformaticians, data scientists, principal investigators), and faculty Biostatisticians in the department.  Works collaboratively with other work units internal and external to the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences including Statistical Programmers, other Research and Clinical Support Staff, and Information Technology Staff. Is accountable to multidisciplinary teams and external research groups.  
The Biostatistician Intern must possess basic expertise in a wide variety of statistical techniques to meet the demands of their study teams and investigators. The Biostatistician Intern will utilize statistical knowledge and programming skills to function as a statistical researcher by applying statistical, computer and scientific expertise to the design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of research, clinical and administrative studies under the direction of the multidisciplinary team. The Biostatistician Intern will work with Biostatisticians to summarize and communicate project findings to study team members, investigators, journal and grant reviewers, committees, and other individuals and entities as needed.

 

Working towards a PhD degree in Statistics/Biostatistics and has completed at least 2 years of a graduate program at the time of starting the internship. 

Additional Experience and/or Qualifications: (Has Achieved Competency in the Following Areas, Job Knowledge and Additional Considerations): Experience in statistical analysis and programming software such as SAS, R, or python. A commitment to customer service with an attitude of owning the experience of each customer is required. Applicable skills include organization, documentation, written and oral communication. Other beneficial attributes include logical and systematic thinking, inquisitiveness, basic knowledge of human physiology and/or medical terminology, and a proven competency to work independently.
