Who We Are

Nuro is a robotics start-up whose mission is to accelerate the benefits of robotics for everyday life. We have an elite team of entrepreneurs and engineers, designers, and scientists. We believe AI and robotics are at the cusp of transforming daily life and we are dedicated to building meaningful products with this technology. Join us and play a critical role in our mission.

About the Role:

You will be mainly responsible for leading a team to drive the technical progress of RL planner, defining long/medium/short term milestones, coordinating and allocating resources and people to work towards the milestones, understanding technical details and challenges to help unblock the team, helping and growing the team members, communicating and collaborating with other teams to define roadmaps to deploy the model onto our vehicle.

You should have a deep understanding of how RL works, know state-of-the-art RL algorithms and their tradeoffs, have hands-on experience in training RL models and making them work, have a strong publication record or related industry experience, have the experience to lead complicated and uncertain projects and drive them to success, and have a strong interest in RL planning and deploy models to the product to handle real-world scenarios. It is a plus if you have the experience to apply RL to some real-world problems with safety constraints. Previous management experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team and drive technical progress of RL planner.
  • Define milestones and allocate resources properly to achieve the milestones.
  • Understand key challenges and help unblock the team and also grow the team.
  • Collaborate with other teams to define roadmaps and deploy the model on-road.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge in RL with 5+ years experience and hands-on experience in how to train it well.
  • Strong publication record or related industry experience (4+ years).
  • Fluent knowledge of Tensorflow/Python (4+ years) and OpenAI-Gym like environment (2+ years).
  • Experience in leading complicated/uncertain projects and driving their success.
  • Passionate about solving real-world challenging ML/Robotics problems.
  • Strong intuition and creativity in how to apply their knowledge for RL planning.
  • Fast to learn new areas and adapt quickly to new problems.
  • Strong culture fit and good team player.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience in applying RL for SDC or similar real-world problems.
  • Experience in people management.
