About the Team:
If the idea of working with persistent data stores at scale appeals to you then the Data Abstraction Platform (DAP) team could be the team for you! You will be part of our growing team who are building the Transactional Data Platform (TDP) for Atlassian’s Team Data. Our mission is to empower Atlassian’s product teams to deliver new features, faster and without having to worry about enterprise requirements. Atlassian is looking for engineers to be part of the team that will own building the platform components to provide managed Key-Value and Object stores as well as higher level abstractions Atlassian’s products will interact with to provide product functionality.
What you'll be doing:
As a Senior Backend Engineer you will build and own the object and key-value store capabilities for Atlassian’s data platform, so that we can help our customers build what's next. Here, you'll collaborate with experienced and curious engineers to build object and graph store provisioning and management capabilities for Atlassian’s PaaS as well as higher level object and graph store abstractions for Atlassian’s data platform.You will use your understanding of modern software design and architectural principles and your analytical skills to help future-proof our products and internal tooling. You'll contribute to the design, implementation, and operation of infrastructure components that are consumed by hundreds of microservices across Atlassian. If you're excited to work in an environment that values a collaborative spirit over a hero attitude, we look forward to talking with you!Our tech stack is primarily Java built on AWS.In a typical work week, you will collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, Architects and Engineering Leaders to design, plan and create the TDP capabilities of Atlassian’s data platform.Success in this role will be measured by the the team’s ability to create and own TDP capabilities that enable Atlassian’s platform and product teams to focus on building features that delight our customers.Atlassian customers expect the best, and we are here to help Atlassian deliver it.

The following are not required, but definite bonuses:Working knowledge of data stores (e.g. S3, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch)Experience with AWS component APIs such as S3, RDS, DynamoDB and CloudformationKnowledge of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Heroku) and applications built on cloud platforms
