Position Overview

Metropolis is seeking an exceptional analytics leader and practitioner to lead the Analytics team within our Data and Analytics group. As the Senior Manager, Analytics, you will provide the vision and direction to build the next-generation of analytic products and solutions for our internal and external customers. In this role, you will collaborate with business partners to understand data needs, conceptualize and build analytics products and provide data driven insight and recommendations that drive business goals. You will lead a team of data analysts and/or product owners and work with multiple functional groups including Operations, Marketing, Sales, Growth, Finance and Product.

We are looking for a hands-on leader who is able to understand the “story behind the data” and convey the story effectively within the given business context. If you have substantial experience in one or more of the following areas - operations analytics, sales analytics, marketing analytics, product analytics, financial reporting, etc. and technical proficiency in data engineering and data systems, this would be a perfect role for you

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and manage a team of data analysts and/or analytic product owners. 
  • Be the data partner for multiple functional groups including Operations, Marketing, Sales, Growth, Finance and Product.
  • Collaborate with the business teams to define the Analytics Product roadmap and drive business value
  • Implement Agile Scrum processes, ceremonies and metrics 
  • Build, manage and prioritize the Analytics Product backlog
  • Develop data visualizations, dashboard  and reporting solutions using visualization tools
  • Extract actionable insights from data and tell clear, concise, and compelling stories to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Create complex SQL queries and perform ad hoc and exploratory data analysis to describe the impact of new features and answer questions from both internal and external customers
  • Build and maintain Data Catalog and/or Data Dictionary to support data discovery and governance
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to contribute to the evolution of the Data Warehouse
  • Establish best practices and guidelines to ensure Data Quality, Data Privacy and Data Access Control 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant hands-on experience in data and analytics domain / teams.
  • 3+ years leadership experience in leading analytics teams
  • 7+ years hands-on progressive career experience as an analytics data analyst before transitioning to managing teams
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas - Operations Analytics, Sales Analytics, Marketing Analytics, Product Analytics, etc.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the areas of Data Warehouse architecture, relational and dimensional data models, data integration and data quality frameworks
  • 3+ years experience working in an Agile SCRUM teams including Product Management
  • 5+ years experience in complex data analysis using SQL
  • 5+ years development experience on visualization tools such as Tableau (preferred), Power BI, Looker, Microstrategy, etc.  including visualizations development, complex dashboard actions, and performance optimizations
  • Very strong project management skills. Identify implementation roadblocks, process improvements, release management improvements and other tactics to ensure timely delivery of features, while maintaining high quality.
  • Ability to earn the respect of the development team and a passion for creating a learning-based organization to invest in the team and to oversee the professional development of the team members. 
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and work with diverse project teams.
