Job summary
The Media ML Team for the Chime SDK is at the forefront of building ML features for Audio and Video streams. Our charter is to think big, re-imagine, re:Invent, problem solve, innovate and deliver novel, state-of-the-art solutions to audio and video problems. We are interested in all aspects of audio and video technology, and we leverage the latest Machine Learning (ML) and Signal Processing (DSP) techniques to surprise and delight our customers. Our applications include real-time audio/video communications, anomaly detection, audio/speech/music/image/video processing, enhancement, analysis, synthesis and coding. Our solutions are production-grade services and client SDKs used in billions of minutes of communication.

We reach our customers in multiple ways. Our work feeds directly into the Amazon Chime SDK, which has worldwide adoption and rapid growth. We also contribute Amazon Chime Meetings and power other AWS and Amazon multimedia offerings. In addition, we are building and launching new standalone AWS cloud services to put our technology directly into the hands of builders and customers. We have the nimbleness of a small startup outfit, but have the immense resources of AWS - the world leader in cloud computing - behind us as well. We are looking for experienced software engineers who strive for technical excellence while pragmatically delivering working software products. Successful candidates with server-side experience will be familiar with building and operating data planes and control planes for scalable systems. Successful candidates with client-side experience will be familiar with the low-level details of JavaScript in browsers, iOS, or Android operating systems. All successful candidates will have a strong grasp in CS fundamentals and are excited to work across the stack, on the client, the server, or anywhere in-between. We are looking for candidates with 5-10 years of experience.

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

BS/MS in CS, EE or a related technical field

Preferred Qualifications

· MS/PhD in CS, EE or a related technical field

· Strong software design and development skills

· Experience working effectively with science, data processing, and software engineering teams

· Proven track record of innovation and delivering efficient production worthy code

· Entrepreneurial spirit combined with strong architectural and problem solving skills.

· Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
