Software Engineer, Data Platform - (Python)

All roles listed as ‘remote’ are available as remote within the same country.

We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer to join our team and provide data-driven capabilities to our customers. The team’s focus is on the ingestion of data from the world of open-source software and dispersion of this throughout our platform to power our products. The team are also working on data engineering platforms and tooling to be used by other teams in the organization.

You’ll spend your time:

• exploring and extracting information from public sources and Snyk’s proprietary  data
• taking part in defining the company’s data-related architecture (database technologies, ETL processes, distributed cloud systems), as well as driving best practices for data ingestion and management
• defining APIs for services to be consumed by our portal and other services
• integrating the data you collected within the company's core product

We follow an Agile software development methodology in our engineering teams; additionally, our team is distributed between Tel Aviv, London and Switzerland. Most of the time you will be coding. Every so often (during one week every two months) you will also participate to on-call rotation, keeping our production system healthy and gaining a better understanding of our customer needs.

You should apply if you:

• have experience in Python, developing production-grade server-side development
• have experience working with data processing pipelines & databases on cloud platforms
• are familiar with distributed system architectural challenges
• have experience working with relational cloud-based databases 
• have built and defined API services from scratch and maintained them on production
• have experience with cloud technologies (GCP or AWS)
• have experience with ETL processes and tools 
• are excited by Snyk’s mission, open-source, or developer tools
• are a team player and you have the ability to interact with multiple stakeholders in the company
• value pair programming and test-driven development

We’d especially love to hear from you (but you don’t need these skills to apply!) if you:

• Have experience working Apache Spark / Databricks and DataFrames
• Have production-grade experience with Kubernetes or have worked with any of the popular cloud platform offerings from Google, Amazon and Microsoft Azure.
• Have experience supporting and running software in production
• Enjoy the challenge of finding the right alerting, monitoring and SLOs for your services

Our current stack includes: Python, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Google Cloud, AWS, Kubernetes, Apache Spark/Databricks, NodeJS, Golang, Java

While we are looking for candidates with existing experience with our tech stack we believe curiosity, communication, and the ability to learn are most important.
