The Data Analyst performs various functions, including data collection and analysis to identify useful trends and process improvement with relevant information that will facilitate informed decision making. This position captures and documents requirements, creating documentation, incident-based troubleshooting of processes and systems, implementing improvements to current and future processes and systems, and providing broad-based support to key stakeholders.
As the Elective Vehicle Operations team’s Data Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting Geotab’s endeavour to manage through measurement by creating and maintaining data visualizations and reports. Based out of the Waterloo office in Catalyst 137, your primary focus will be on our wealth of electric vehicle data and its impact on the various business strategies within Geotab. Duties and Tasks/Essential Functions:

  • Work with the business teams you support to identify, document, and deliver required visualizations and reports that provide actionable insights.
  • Use Airflow, Python, SQL, Redash and Power BI to generate new data tables, visualizations, and reports that inform and influence the direction of our EV products and teams.
  • Identify and correct data quality issues in our datasets and between integrated systems.
  • Identify and communicate risks to the successful completion of the requested visualizations and work with our business and technical teams to resolve them.
  • Conduct post-mortems with your internal customers to identify areas for improvement.
  • Build and maintain the data visualization roadmap for our EV products and business teams.
  • Maintain released pipelines and visualizations; resolving issues and change requests as required.
  • Keep documentation up to date for all your areas of responsibility; specifically including documentation on how to read and understand the importance of each visualization and report.
  • Contribute to a group of data subject matter experts for Geotab’s Smart Charge Platform product by attending meetings, answering internal questions, and documenting those answers in a repository.
  • Conduct training sessions as required to enable others in the organization to create their own reliable visualizations and reports on data related to electric vehicles.
  • Review any existing or new visualizations built by other team members for data quality.

Relevant Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience using SQL (experience with Google BigQuery an asset)
  • 2+ years’ experience with data science tools (experience with Jupyter Lab, Python, Pandas, NumPy an asset)
  • 1+ years’ experience creating high-quality dashboards and data visualizations for internal consumption (experience with Redash and Power BI an asset) 
  • Experience with Jira, Salesforce, and GitLab is an asset
  • Familiarity with telematics, SAAS, and consumer-based metrics an asset
  • Being an inquisitive, results-oriented, self-starter with an attention to detail is crucial
  • Strong time management skills to balance multiple projects at once
