Staff Engineer - Machine Learning

A dynamic UK-based technology company with a global impact across logistics, we’re searching for a Staff Engineer - Machine Learning who is excited by the prospect of working in a rapidly growing international scale-up. We have significant runway thanks to our most recent Series B funding, which we raised from some of the best investors in the space: Eight Roads (Alibaba, Spendesk, Toast), Bessemer Venture Partners (LinkedIn, Twilio, Shopify), Episode 1 (Zoopla, Betfair, Shazam) and Dynamo Ventures (Sennder, Stord, Gatik).

We’re searching for a Staff Engineer - Machine Learning to lead our efforts in remaining at the bleeding edge of machine learning by spearheading the implementation of machine learning models in production across the technology stack. You will also be involved in contributing to and overseeing the build and deployment of machine learning models into a highly scalable, distributed system along with the rest of the team.

Day to Day you will engage in:

• Working directly with customer needs and on customer facing projects / features
• Understanding, fine-tuning, parameterizing, and optimizing ML models and the services around them
• Bringing machine learning systems into full production, working closely with members of the product and engineering teams
• Actively interacting with engineering, product, and customer success teams to determine and explain solutions to customer requests
  
  

We're specifically looking for someone who:

• Is proficient in Python, including best practices, system design, and testing.
• Ability to effectively implement and debug web services(e.g. FastAPI).
• Be comfortable finding their way around complex codebases and algorithms.
• Some knowledge of databases  and how to interact with them like SQLAlchemy, Postgres, MongoDB, and Motor.
• Interest in ML products and a high-level understanding of ML approaches.
• It would also be good to have the following experience:
• Grasp of the fundamentals of all major aspects of modern artificial intelligence - computer vision, natural language processing, etc.
• Solid industry experience building and deploying machine learning applications
