Senior Fullstack Engineer, Simulation
Mountain View (US-MTV-RLS1)
Full Time Senior-level / Expert USD 192K - 243K
Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states.
As a Senior full-stack SWE in the Driver Understanding & Evaluation Experience team, you'll work on the user-facing infrastructure that all of Waymo uses to understand the Waymo Driver's performance. These web-based applications help to smooth the build, evaluate, triage, launch workflow and are used by every part of Waymo, including SWEs, PMs, Data Scientists, Ops, and Research. These tools are a core part of solving almost every self-driving challenge Waymo faces.
You will work with a small but growing team and collaborate directly with users, product managers, and UX to build and own products that improve Waymo's engineering capabilities around our toughest self-driving challenges.
You will own user-facing products essential to building the world's most experienced driver and lead efforts such as:
- Building seamless web tools and efficient data pipelines for simulated and driving events evaluation, triaging tens of millions of data points used by Waymo Ops and Eng.
- Building auto-triage pipelines that provide useful signals and clustering for triage productivity and quality improvement, incorporating technologies like LLMs and generative AI.
- Collaborating across teams, with SWEs, Product Managers, Data Science, Operations, and UX to build the best user experience for our developer tools and improve the development speed of Waymo software engineers.
- Engineering solutions with an eye towards quality, performance, and stability.
At a minimum we'd like you to have:
- A BS or MS in Computer Science or a similar discipline. An equivalent amount of real-life experience is also welcome.
- Experience with modern web frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, TypeScript, Dart).
- Experience with server side development.
- Passion for infrastructure work: building internal tools, frameworks, and libraries.
- Ability to move quickly and work directly with customers for feedback.
- Excitement about working on autonomous vehicles.
It's preferred if you have:
- Experience with C++.
- Experience building developer productivity tools with a high degree of product excellence.
- Experience communicating and coordinating across teams.
- Experience with web-based full-stack development.
