Staff Data Scientist - Mobile

Are you passionate about pushing the frontier of making team work more effortlessly together through people’s mobile devices?  We are hiring a staff data scientist to become our next data tech lead for our mobile product group. You will be one of the integral team members responsible for shaping Asana’s mobile strategy in a collaborative working environment through strategic analysis, owning key mobile performance metrics, supporting product execution by running and analyzing experiments, and building Machine Learning models that enable teams to work more effectively together. 

The Product Data Science team works closely with our product, engineering, design, user research, and product marketing teams; we work to make sure teams are asking the right questions and then find those answers. We understand our company’s goals and proactively inform their direction with data so that our product can help more teams do great things.

Typical responsibilities:

• Partner with mobile product group leadership including PM lead, Engineering leads, Design lead, UXR lead, and PMM lead to design, scope, and execute on strategic analysis / data tools that can inform broader mobile team’s roadmap and key decisions.
• Partner closely with mobile communications team stakeholders including PM, Engineers, designer, and UXR researcher to scope and execute on strategic analysis that informs the Mobile Communication team’s roadmap, design experiments that measure product progress, and own key performance metrics.
• Solving users’ communications problems through data intelligent products via Machine Learning models.
• Mentor junior data scientists on the technical details, manage strategic projects, and develop key mobile data pipelines.
• Research, identify and disseminate best practices across teams in terms of tools, systems and processes.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in product analytics / data science in a fast-paced environment.
• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Engineering, a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in collaborating with Product, Engineering, Design, UXR, and PMM leadership in driving key strategic / tactical decisions using data.
• Strong ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences, and crafting compelling and actionable stories.
• Experience with online experimentation, causal inference, and machine learning to solve and optimize critical business problems and metrics.
• Experience with product data science concepts such as understanding and tracking customer and user behaviors using lenses like adoption, churn, cohorts and funnel analysis.
• Expert in relational data modeling and SQL and fluent in at least one modern language useful for data processing (e.g. R, Python, or Scala).
• Experience in scoping and planning projects with cross-functional stakeholders and driving technical execution.
