Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, which allows businesses that depend on physical operations to harness IoT (Internet of Things) data to develop actionable business insights and improve their operations. Founded in San Francisco in 2015, we now employ more than 1,800 people globally and have over 1.5 million active devices. Samsara also went public in December 2021 and we’re just getting started.

Recent awards we’ve won include:

  • #2 in the Financial Times’ Fastest Growing Companies in Americas list 2021
  • Named as a Best Place to Work in Built In 2022
  • #19 in the Forbes Cloud 100 2021
  • IoT Analytics Company of the Year in 2022’s IoT Breakthrough Winners
  • Forbes Advisor named us the Best Solution for Large Companies - Fleet management software for 2022!

We're driving change in industries that are yet to fully embrace digital transformation. Physical operations make up a massive slice of the global economy but haven’t benefited from innovation and actionable information in the way that other sectors have. The potential for scale and impact is huge.

About the role:

The Sales Ops & Strategy team is a highly collaborative team that partners with sales leaders and cross-functionally to realize growing revenue targets, to scale the organization sustainably, and to address GTM challenges and opportunities.

We are looking for our first dedicated analytics expert to help us supercharge our ability to deliver insights at scale and to develop the technical foundation for us to transform how we use data and insights. We are a team that seeks to have an outsized impact on Samsara and we achieve that aspiration through rigorous and ongoing skill development.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop standardized reporting and analytics tools (e.g., SFDC, Tableau) for global Sales team and Strategy teams across segments
  • Establish data auditing practices to ensure insight tools are accurate and automatically updated
  • Partner with Marketing, Finance, and other teams through an Insight Council to establish data definitions, to build data foundation, and to maintain insight tools
  • Support insight and recommendations on strategic projects as needed
  • Enable other team members to perform analyses and develop insight tools based on best practices you establish
  • Inform GTM strategic roadmap of data products and platforms based on business needs across Sales
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 5-7 years of experience delivering analytic tools at scale
  • Kind and collaborative orientation with strong communication skills. Energized by working with a lot of different types of people from many teams (sense of humor is a big plus)
  • Expert in statistical analytical and visualization tools (e.g., R, Tableau, Python)
  • Highly proficient in database languages (e.g., SQL, Databricks, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to have high impact with minimum guidance
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and enthusiastic about improving efficiencies to increase sales
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to independently manage multiple projects on a tight deadline

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Insatiable drive and commitment to personal growth
  • Ability to build strong relationships with executives and cross-functional partners
  • High level of curiosity and honesty because we love to debate ideas. Losing a debate to a good argument is as exciting as winning one with a good argument

At Samsara, we welcome everyone regardless of their background, race, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, disability, age, etc. We depend on the unique approaches of our team members to help us solve complex problems. We are committed to increasing diversity across our team and ensuring that Samsara is a place where people from all backgrounds can make an impact.
