Data Engineer

Napier is a new breed of financial crime compliance technology specialist. Our AI-enhanced platform – Napier Continuum – transforms compliance from legal obligation to competitive edge.

Due to our ongoing growth internationally, we are looking to hire a Data Engineer to work with our Data Science Team to help develop and implement improvements to the Napier Data Model as we increase our scale and data capabilities.

You’ll work alongside Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers directly, and help ensure that their models and frameworks are compatible with the Napier Data Model. You’ll also work near the Dev/Ops and Platform teams in improving our upgrade & data migration process, aiming to reduce friction and improve automation in platform upgrades.

Your day to day – Data Engineer

• Improve and Implement Data Frameworks for Machine Learning at Scale
• Maintain and improve Data Migration tooling to ensure that database updates are rolled out painlessly
• Manage performance testing for modifications to the Napier Data Model, with an aim to identifying and eliminating regressions before releases
• Prototype & design Data Models for bleeding-edge model design, such as Graph Machine Learning
• Support & suggest improvements to the data model, ensuring that we develop with an eye to supporting future research aims

Requirements

Do you have what it takes?

• Experience in Python – at least three years
• Previous experience using Version Control Software and Collaboration Tools, preferably Git and JIRA
• Familiarity with Postgres or other similar SQL Databases, in both a management and user perspective (i.e. experience beyond simple querying of objects)
• Ability to work on larger Python projects
• Previous projects using the Python Test Suite – PyTest, Tox, etc.
• Experience with Elasticsearch and Cassandra
• Experience with data-at-scale tooling – PyArrow/Arrow and Dask especially
