Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the world’s computer with an industry-leading supply chain. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

 

The Spares Supply Chain team is transforming the cloud service parts supply chain in order to ensure that the right spare parts are in the right place at the right time to support global capacity requirements and make sure our customers have the cloud capacity they need when they need it. We are looking for a talented Director of Data Analytics - Spares Supply Chain to lead and grow a high-performing Data Analytics team, develop and drive our analytics strategy and roadmap, and transform our analytics capabilities to be more predictive and proactive while leveraging advanced analytics and AI technologies to optimize decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Data Analytics Strategy & Maturity: Develop and drive the vision and future state roadmap for Data Analytics in Spares Supply Chain.
  • Drive the evolution of analytical capabilities along the maturity curve from Reporting and Descriptive Analytics to Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics
  • Visualization & Storytelling: Enhance our data visualization and storytelling capabilities to influence stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Advanced Analytics & Data Science: Integrate advanced Analytical and Data Science techniques including AI/ML, Simulation and Optimization into our operational and decision-making processes. Partner with Data Science & Engineering teams across CSCP and other organizations to augment our own capabilities as needed.
  • Data Analysis: Lead complex analyses and initiatives to address critical strategic, tactical and operational challenges across the end-to-end Spares Supply Chain.
  • Model Evaluation: Oversee thorough reviews of data analysis and modeling techniques, ensuring alignment on definitions and standards across stakeholders.
  • Data Security, Privacy and Governance: Hold yourself and your team accountable to uphold Microsoft standards, regulations and governance related to Data Security, Privacy, and ethics.
  • Orchestration and Collaboration: Establish collaborative working relationships across partner teams to ensure alignment and quality execution of data sourcing and analytical tools.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 7+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

    • OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 5+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

    • OR equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Experience working with large-scale data sets and analytics tools (e.g. Python, SQL Server, Azure Data Explorer, Power BI, PowerApps)
  • Familiarity with data warehousing, Extract Transform and Load (ETL) processes, and data integration tools (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse).

 

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering or related discipline
  • Understanding of process engineering and software development lifecycle, including gathering, analyzing, and defining business and functional requirements
  • Written and verbal communication and data storytelling skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels in a highly matrixed environment
  • Knowledge of key IT and service industry concepts
  • Knowledge of supply chain management, demand & supply planning, procurement processes, planning and/or hardware service models
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and datacenter technologies and operations

 

 

 

Data Analytics M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $248,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $268,900 per year.
