We are looking for a Data Science Researcher to join our growing Data Science & Advanced Analytics Team. Our vision is to be the number one provider for data and AI insight services in the public sector. Main Responsibilities: 

  • Consulting with management and relevant stakeholders to define goals.
  • Exploring innovative uses of data and artificial intelligence to address common public sector challenges, both with clients and independently.
  • Supporting data science projects through research, user requirement gathering, report-writing, monitoring and evaluation, user training.
  • Project management of concurrent Data Science projects using MS Dev Ops.
  • Lead on project mobilisation activity, including information governance and data ethics requirements for each Data Science project.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement activity, through facilitating workshops and leading interviews.
  • Collaborating with co-workers and management to implement improvements.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of implemented strategies.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience working either in a product / data science environment or within a relevant public sector department.
  • Very strong written communication with flexibility to adapt style to the nature, length and complexity of the required document.
  • Ability to build good relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering presentations to a range of audiences, with the ability to adapt the messaging to match their level of comprehension.
  • Demonstratable project management experience, and ability to work across several workstreams
  • Ability to manage time appropriately to meet deadlines, through effective prioritisation and delegation where appropriate.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Collaborative mindset.
  • Proven aptitude and attitude towards learning new concepts.
  • Experience using MS PowerPoint.
  • An interest and broad understanding of public services.

How will you spend your days?

  • Identifying, researching and co-designing data science solutions that provide deeper insight for the client.
  • Exploring innovative uses of data and artificial intelligence to address common public sector challenges, both with clients and independently.
  • Delivering and leading strategic elements of data science projects, working alongside data scientists.
  • Lead on information governance and data ethics procedures during project mobilisation.
  • Conduct market and competitor research.
  • Identification and exploratory analysis of open datasets to enrich models or produce open source tooling.
  • Horizon scanning and keeping the team up to date with advances in technologies and common public sector challenges where data science could help.
  • Project management across concurrent projects
  • Support business development activity, including client meetings, writing proposals, statements of work and completing bids.
  • Work with stakeholders including Executives, Product, Data and Design teams.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to grow a pipeline of novel data science opportunities, bringing in your ideas and sharing knowledge.
  • Produce briefing notes, reports and other written outputs relating to the research, data science solution and evaluation framework.
  • Lead aspects of practice development and improvement to establish clear and effective processes for the Data Science team.
  • Work with the wider Data Science team to build our brand – engaging in conferences, thought-leadership marketing pieces and podcasts.
  • Supporting wider strategic consulting projects, for example an AI Strategy or Operating Model Design.

  • Calm and adaptable in the face of ambiguity and in a fast-paced, quick-changing environment.
  • You must be comfortable with the consulting lifestyle and be willing to travel.
