Technologist – AI/ML

RS21 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technologist to help stand up and operate an Artificial Intelligence Cetner of Excellence (AICOE), which will serve as the central hub for AI initiatives to support efficient operations for our client. The Technologist will serve as the technology lead, focusing on developing and implementing AI/ML solutions that meet the operational needs of our client. This role requires a strategic thinker who can evaluate AI/ML opportunities, consult on project scopes, and deliver high-value solutions.

The Technologist will be part of a team that will establish the framework to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the AICOE, help the workforce leverage AI/ML capabilities, and enable our client to optimize operations, enhance decision-making, and improve day-to-day processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional project management skills, and a passion for AI technologies.

This is a hybrid role with expectations for regular work from our client’s offices in Los Alamos, NM.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technology Leadership:
   • Lead the development and implementation of AI/ML solutions tailored to our client’s operational needs.
   • Serve as a key consultant on AI/ML considerations, evaluating opportunities and advising on optimal strategies and capabilities.
2. Mentorship and Development:
   • Provide technical mentoring to team members and staff, enhancing the overall AI/ML expertise of our client.
   • Foster a collaborative environment to elevate team performance and knowledge sharing.
3. Operational Support:
   • Offer ongoing AI/ML support to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.
   • Address operational challenges with innovative AI/ML approaches.
4. Task Order Creation:
   • Draft task orders for review and consideration, supporting specific AI initiatives and requests.
   • Ensure that task orders align with our client’s strategic objectives and operational requirements.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or related plus 5 years’ related experience.
• Proven experience in AI/ML development and implementation.
• Strong consulting skills with the ability to assess and advise on AI/ML opportunities.
• Excellent mentorship capabilities to guide and develop team members.
• Effective problem-solving skills for operational AI/ML support.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to Obtain a DOE Q-Clearance.
• Experience in a national laboratory setting preferred.
