Are you passionate about working with data and gleaning insights to make the broad business impact? Amazon is looking for a talented, customer-focused individual to lead a market research on hiring senior academic and industry talents across Science and Design domains. This is a central role to drive global analytical projects for Science & Design Leadership Recruiting and Academic Partnerships (SDLAP) team.

The Market Intelligence (MI) Analytics Team within SDLAP is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our team. You will be leading Data Engineering space to support the SDLAP org initiatives. If you enjoy innovating, thinking big and want to contribute directly to the success of a growing team, you may be a prime candidate for this position.

The successful candidate will be an expert with ETL programming/scripting, data modelling, data integration , SQL and have exemplary communication skills. The candidate will need to be comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and able to think big while paying careful attention to detail. The candidate will know and love working with AWS technologies, can model multidimensional datasets, and can partner with customers to answer key business questions.

Owning the design, operations and improvements for the data warehouse infrastructure
Engineering solutions to aggregate and automate large scale data flows from varying sources
Collaborate with Engineers and Scientists in the organization to construct complex data sources for algorithms and machine learning models
Explore and learn the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency
Build real time streaming from internal and external sources to provide insights to the business
Build, analyze and present actionable data to drive marketing business development and product management decisions
Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.

A day in the life
Your customers are L7+Recruiting Leaders, Program heads and Hiring Managers. Your stakeholders are Recruiting Engine tech teams. Working backwards from our 3YP, by 2026, we will realize a new approach to talent acquisition. Instead of relying on reqs as the sole demand indicator, we will work with the business to discover and anticipate long-term talent gaps by inspecting business product and technology roadmaps. You will build solutions where our customers will have an integrated view of the prospect pool, expanding beyond individuals to include universities, startups, companies with technologies to license, intact competitor teams, and internal candidates.

About the team
This role reports up through the Market Intelligence (MI) organization within Science and Design Leadership Recruiting and is central to the MI Analytics function. This person will lead team-wide automation and reporting of key performance indicators own the reporting infrastructure for KPIs related to team operations. This includes reporting off the CRM system, HIRE, iCIMS, HRBI and others. Some of the projects this person will be involved include (but not limited to):
Metrics Automation using SQL
Aligning CRM with Search tools (used for deep searches)
ETL based reporting using Datanet

Basic Qualifications


  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience in SQL

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
  • 5+ years analyzing data to solve business problems and presenting insights to business teams
  • Lead strategic research projects/recruiting initiatives
  • Develop and manage the reporting analytics utilized during Business Reviews and Annual Summaries
  • Identify reporting issues, gaps in processes, and drive timely resolution.
  • Build dashboards and analytical mechanisms to decipher actionable signals, trends and patterns.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis with a minimal guidance
  • Partner with Market Intelligence Recruiters to build effective passive candidate sourcing strategies
  • Manage expectations by articulating in writing a plan with deliverables, timelines, and a formal tracking process
  • Display complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and to present findings in a clear and concise manner

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, BI Engineer, Business/Financial Analyst or Systems Analyst in a company with large, complex data sources · Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets . 2 years of experience using JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5 or other web technologies. · Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering · Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
