Data Engineering Manager

DoorDash is looking for an Engineering Manager with strong mobile development and leadership experience to lead the Consumer Mobile Platform team. This team’s mission is to empower mobile engineers to safely and efficiently build performant and reliable iOS and Android apps for DoorDash users. As the manager, you will lead a team of highly skilled native mobile engineers to build the next-gen platforms to power the future of DoorDash.

Marketplace organization will solve DoorDash’s top engineering challenges across three pillars: Performance, Quality, and Developer Productivity.   With the toolset and platform we build, we will empower engineers to build high-performant, reliable, modern, and testable products.  They will have everything an engineer needs to be greater every day and be customer-obsessed, leading DoorDash to its full potential. 

• Leading high-impact tech initiatives that shape our Consumer Mobile Platform.
• Understanding consumer product and engineering needs to build a scalable mobile platform that enables engineers to efficiently build high-quality products.
• Leveraging cutting-edge technologies like Kotlin and SwiftUI with an MVVM+R architecture
• Driving efficiency, whether it be network, common components, or learnings.
• Inspiring your team and others with technical vision and customer obsession.
• Recruiting and retaining talented software engineers.
• Keeping the team connected to the needs of engineering.
• Rolling up your sleeves with hands-on contributions when necessary.
• Maintaining a positive and supportive work culture.
• Coaching, mentoring, and providing career guidance.

• B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent
• 8+ years of industry experience
• You have at least 3 years of experience in an engineering management role.
• You have experience selecting and adopting mobile technologies to improve testing, performance, and developer productivity.  Experience with managing CI/CD pipelines and optimizing mobile performance are plus.
• You have experience defining the role and scope of a platform team in a rapidly growing company.
• You have a customer-centric mindset and apply that to how you would build out platform services.
• You’re curious and dive deep into different cutting-edge mobile technologies.
• You are a leader, coach and enjoy creating opportunities for others.
• You are an organized and excellent written and verbal communicator.
