OnsiteJoin our team in Cedar Rapids, IA, as a Principal Software Engineer and drive transformative change in Operations. In this role, you'll oversee the entire lifecycle of applications—from initial requirements capture to software architecture, integration, testing, and configuration management. Your focus will be creating new software applications and integrating new features into existing software applications to enhance our processes.

This role will be performed ONSITE in our Collins Aerospace location in Cedar Rapids, IA.
What YOU Will Do:
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop software applications requiring state of the art industry knowledge and techniques
- Lead and participate in full lifecycle of applications including requirements capture, development and software architecture, integration and verification testing, and documentation of software of moderate complexity
- Lead or participate in improvements to departmental standards for requirements capture, analysis, design, development, code reviews, test and release software processes, tools, methods, and coding best practices in a manufacturing environment
- Work closely with other project team members in planning, design, development, and utilization of database and application servers to ensure smooth operation and customer requirements are met
- Identify root cause of difficult to complex software and systems issues using appropriate debug and analysis tools
- Integrate changes to existing software applications with a focus on high quality and reliability
- Escalate to leaders in other departments to resolve technical issues in a timely fashion
- Produce rough order of magnitude for individual and group tasks
- Provide project status with necessary supporting documentation
- Stay current on best practices in development methodologies and advancements in technology and recommend changes to improve and develop software engineering activities
- Develop plans aligned with corporate procedures, practices, and budgets
- Coach and delegate work to less experienced engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems, and build their capabilities
- Minimal travel involved

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Advanced experience with windows and web-based application development
- Advanced experience with C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, Java, SQL, and Python
- Experience in large database design and query tuning
- Experienced mentoring or acting as software lead
- Manufacturing knowledge and experience
- Data analysis and visualization
- Developing factory automation analysis tools and solutions
- Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
