About the roleWe’re looking for a passionate, high-agency Head of Analytics & Data Science to join our company. Your mission is to build out and scale a world-class Analytics & Data Science function that delivers considerable value for our customers and our business.

What you'll get to do:

  • Leadership:
  • - Define what great looks like when it comes to generating insights from Currencycloud’s data- Define practices & ways of working covering Analytics and Data Science so we sustainably deliver value to our customers and the business (e.g. workflows and tooling for a modern Analytics & Data Science function)- Educate and influence colleagues in the function and across the business about patterns & practices in Analytics and Data Science- Develop and build a new Analytics & Data Science Community of Practice with power users in other functions- Represent the Analytics & Data Science function internally and externally in the Fintech market- Build out and scale our Analytics & Data Science function
  • Strategy:
  • - Develop the Analytics & Data Science strategy for our business- Communicate and get buy-in for the Analytics & Data Science strategy from across the business, particularly in Technology & Product- Translate the Analytics & Data Science strategy into robust, executable plans- Collaborate closely with colleagues to execute the long-term Analytics & Data Science strategy
  • Delivery & performance:
  • - Accountable for the performance of a distributed team of Insight Analysts & Data Scientists- Use leadership and management skills to improve: 1) delivery of Analytics and Data Science projects; and 2) team engagement and effectiveness - as demonstrated by substantial improvements in relevant KPIs and metrics- Multiply your impact by recruiting top-notch talent and coaching the Insight Analysts and Data Scientists
  • Coaching & mentoring:
  • - Set and maintain a culture that strengthens our people-first, empowered, high-accountability Analytics & Data Science team- Create and maintain a competencies framework for Insight Analysts & Data Scientists to help with career development- Provide first-rate coaching and mentoring to your direct reports so they become the best individual contributors they can be- Advocate for Analytics & Data Science best practices within the function and across the business- Teach direct reports, and skip reports, about Analytics & Data Science best practices

What experience you need!

  • Experience: 
  • - Built and run a team of at least 2-5 Analysts & Data Scientists (or a team with equivalent job responsibilities covering Business Intelligence, Insights etc.)- Recruitment and retention of top Analyst & Data Science talent- At least 1-2 years experience of direct leadership and people management- Demonstrable experience working in a “software first” and agile company
  • Skills:
  • - Analytics & Data Science practices: Deep understanding and knowledge of patterns and practices, including the application of theory in different industries and organisations- Leadership & coaching: Expert at coaching and leading teams in Analytics & Data Science- Ability to influence colleagues across the business- Delivery & performance: Expert at optimising the delivery of high value-add Analytics & Data Science projects- Communication: Expert at communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders- Experience helping a start-up/scale-up mature their Analytics and Data Science workflows and processes
