The Senior Data Scientist in the S&MS Data Science Innovation team, you will develop supervised and unsupervised Artificial Intelligence (AI)/ Machine Learning (ML) models. You will use advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) and graph techniques, collaborate with cross-functional teams and analytic vendors, and communicate regularly with Sales and Marketing, Third Party Risk and Compliance lines of business.   

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop novel solutions to market-driven problems using knowledge of the latest NLP techniques, AI/ML techniques, rigorous statistical analysis, and practical experience on previous data science projects.
  • Lead data science projects; inspire all business users to use predictive and prescriptive analytics to make important business decisions. 
  • Guide other analysts to create new scalable analytic solutions with multiple use cases; work with cross-functional teams to implement and productize the solution.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on Natural Language Processing and Graph Analytics within the Sales and Marketing and Supply Chain Mgmt./Compliance Analytics team and other lines of business; consult with them, as appropriate, on modeling and analytic solutions.
  • Help build new data science capabilities; guide and mentor junior analysts.
  • Enjoy and share academic literature, technical developments, and industry best practices.  Identify business relevance of new methods and work with cross functional teams to create prototypes, assist in creating business cases, and provide input into go-to-market strategy.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (external customers, other D&B data scientists, sales team members, business unit product leaders and development teams) to understand business needs and technical requirements through direct, external consultative customer engagements as well as proof-of-concept implementations for products.
  • Participate and support other teams, as needed, for all aspects of model development, including design, model implementation, validation, calibration, documentation, product implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Derive actionable insights from unconventional data, big data, using real-time analytic techniques. Identify use cases, and assess its incremental value (in terms of lift in predictive power).
  • Research complex business issues and recommend solutions, including customer data input requirements, other required data sets, modeling approaches, and end products.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD in a quantitative / applied field (Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics).  
  • 5+ years of experience in a data science role.
  • 1+ years of experience applying NLP models and/or graph models.
  • Experience collaborating, including the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders/clients, and being disciplined in delivery of initiatives.
  • Proficient SQL skills and experience working with large data sets (big data, IoT data).
  • Knowledgeable with programming and modeling using Python, PySpark, Scala.
  • Experience applying current machine learning techniques
  • Experience advising teams on innovative methodology, data science tools, and environments.
  • Knowledge of evolving data science concepts and best practices for NLP and unstructured data analysis.
  • Experience communicating complex ideas to both a technical and non-technical audience.

  • Flexibility to master and apply new analytic tools.
