Description:

This course is the core of the MHSc in Translational Research Program. Students, organized in small groups of 2-5 students will have identified and defined a major project proposal in translational research. This project proposal will consist of an extensive outline, project plan and timeline for completion with milestones. Each group will also have established an advisory committee with sufficient expertise to guide and advise the group. This project proposal will be carried out in LMP2330Y. Each group will be required to meet once a week to chart progress and plan upcoming tasks. The group will also be expected to consult formally with their committee once a month. All groups will meet as a class once a month to report progress to the course coordinators and other class members.

 

Estimated course enrollment:  ~ 30 students 
 

Estimated TA support: to be determined

 

Class schedule:  2-hour seminar-style workshops; occurring Thursdays between 10am-7pm (TBC)

 

Sessional dates of appointment:  September 1, 2024 – April 30, 2025

 

Salary (1.0 FCE):  

Sessional Lecturer I - $18,915.79
Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term - $19,861.58
Sessional Lecturer II - $20,243.53
Sessional Lecturer II - Long Term - $20,653.23
Sessional Lecturer III - $20,725.52
Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term - $21,140.03
 

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

 

Minimum qualifications:  PhD with equivalent professional and/or academic experience is preferred.

 

Description of duties:  Preparation and delivery of course content, including lectures and/or seminars; creation of courseware; the development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations; marking and grading of student work and the submission of grades to appropriate University officials, maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside of scheduled contact hours.
