Senior Data Scientist

As a Data Scientist at Clearbit, you’ll be the founding member of a new team! You will wholly own the investigation, testing, and implementation of our Reveal product’s algorithm, the foundation of our value story. You’ll work directly with senior leaders of our Product and Engineering teams to guide this product’s near and long term future. You’ll have the support of adjacent Data Scientists, Engineers, and PMs to brainstorm, socialize, and generally collaborate. You will help develop the tools, standards, and practices for future generations!

What You'll Do:

• Analyze and model vast sets of signal and user data
• Maintain complex SQL queries (& hopefully replace these with a better implementation)
• Come up with new product directions and contribute ideas

What You Need to Succeed:

• SQL mastery: the substance of our algorithm is currently in SQL, so even if you chart a path to refactor it in the next 6 months, to have impact from the start you’ll need to be very comfortable with SQL.
• You have broad technical skill. You have experience in advanced analytics and statistics, SQL/NoSQL, Python/R, machine learning, experiment design (A/B testing, multivariate analysis), data wrangling/ETL, and APIs.
• You have practical data science experience. You have significant prior success working on challenging problems at scale with expertise in statistical modeling.
• You have a growth mindset. You are looking to chart your own path through a broad space of opportunity, with lots of guidance and support, of course.
• Your focus is on customer value and experience. You recognize that we can build anything, but figuring out the right thing to build for customers—and truly understanding their challenges and problems they face— matters most.
• You're creative and curious. You can dream and brainstorm and explore the opposite perspective. You're not afraid of new or different ideas.
• Technical challenges aren't scary. You've worked with complex systems, data, APIs, CRMs, and/or marketing or sales automation platforms.
• You have excellent communication skills. You're as comfortable writing for and talking to customers as you are talking to leadership, design, and engineering. You know your audiences, what's important to them, and can tailor the message so it's concise and clear. You can break down complex concepts into common, easy-to-understand language for the business.
• Your attention-to-detail is top notch. You're quick to catch pitfalls and potential issues, and aren't afraid to ask why or communicate your understanding of a situation. You ensure everyone is aligned and understands what matters and why.
