The International FP&A Data Engineering team is looking for a passionate and solution oriented Sr Data Engineer to designing and implementing the complex ETL pipelines and other BI solutions to support the rapidly growing and dynamic business demand for data, and use it to deliver the data as service which will have an immediate influence on day-to-day decision making at Amazon.
As a Sr Data Engineer, you should excel in the design, creation, management, and business use of extremely large datasets. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with business analysts and engineers to determine how best to design the data warehouse for reporting and analytics. You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable ETL processes in the AWS platform to support the rapidly growing and dynamic business demand for data, and use it to deliver the data as service which will have an immediate influence on day-to-day decision making. You should have the ability to develop and tune SQL to provide optimized solutions to the business. You should be able to create data pipelines to pull data from different sources types and automate current manual process and you will work with AWS technologies such as Redshift, Glue, S3, EMR, Hive, Kinesis, SNS/SQS, and you will enable the BI team to leverage Tableau/Quicksight for self-service analytics and Python/R for data science.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to display your skills in the following areas:
· Design, implement, and support a world-class, production-level data science and BI data infrastructure providing access to large datasets and computing power
· Managing AWS resources including EC2, Redshift, S3, etc
· Interface with Topline Forecasting's technology teams to Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS technologies
· Explore and learn the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency
· Collaborate with Business Intelligence Engineers (BIEs) to recognize and help adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
· Collaborate with Data Scientists to implement advanced analytics algorithms that exploit our rich data sets for statistical analysis, prediction, clustering and machine learning
· Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.

Basic Qualifications


· 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
· Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
· Experience in SQL
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, mathematics, statistics, economics, or other quantitative field
· More than 6 or more years of overall work experience in a related field, including 3 or more years analytics, data engineering or related field
· Proven experience in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing, or similar skills
· Demonstrable skills and experience using SQL with large data sets (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, Redshift)
· Experience with AWS technologies including EC2, Redshift, S3, etc
· Proven track record of successful communication of data infrastructure, data models, and data engineering solutions through written communication, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

· Graduate degree in computer science, business, mathematics, statistics, economics, or other quantitative field
· 7 or more years of prior experience in a Data Engineer role with a technology company or financial institution
· Both technically deep and business savvy enough to interface with all levels and disciplines within the organization
· Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects across functional teams, including technology, product management, finance, and operations
· Deep knowledge of advanced SQL and scripting for automation (e.g. Python, Perl or Ruby)
· Experience with AWS technologies including EMR, Kinesis
· Experience with reporting tools like Tableau, Quicksight
· Familiarity with statistical models and data mining algorithms
· Familiarity with Linux
· Experience with Hadoop or other map/reduce "big data" systems and services
