Senior Data Engineer

Position Summary HackerOne is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to help us discover, collect, and build data solutions by architecting, modeling, and scaling our data pipelines. You'll be part of a growing, distributed data engineering team responsible for building the foundation on which HackerOne runs. You will play a key role in designing and building high performance, scalable solutions for large volumes of data. 
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work with a variety of stakeholders such as Product Managers, Data Analysts, and Data Infrastructure engineers to deliver challenging projects. You will combine broad technological expertise, deep domain knowledge, and an unquestionable dedication to business objectives to help us use data to make the internet a safer place.

Your Journey At HackerOne

• Your first day will start with a warm welcome and technical onboarding!
• Your first 30 days will be focusing on getting to know fellow Hackeronies. You will join the data platform squad and the product engineering squad you’ll be deployed in and begin onboarding. You will get to explore the technology stack (Amplitude, Snowflake, Meltano, Looker, AWS, dbt) and HackerOne’s way of working.
• Within 60 days, you’ll be able to navigate the bigger entities such as users, reports, and engagements and start to be able to pull together reports for your product engineering squad.
• Within 90 days, you will have a strong sense of the direction and stakeholder expectations, and start to deliver insights that will help in the decision making process.

Your Responsibilities

• Manage the specification and delivery of key deliverables with Product Manager
• Own the stakeholders relationship alongside a Product Manager
• Manage and organize interview and research data with Product Designers
• Manage building and updating dashboards and reports covering new and existing users
• Report on data governance and data quality
• Provide regular insights and recommendations on product performanceLead research on emerging / analytics tools / technologies, as well as new versions of existing software to recommend further value-adding initiatives
• Take a practical approach to giving advice, and providing persuasive explanations of complex concepts
• Build a strong foundation for the future expansion of data analysts team, by defining the role, processes and tool sets together with the the Data team

Your Experience

• Experience balancing and measuring brand and performance media
• Practical knowledge of at least one of: Snowflake, Looker, PostgreSQL, Jupyter Notebooks
• Working experience with product analytics tools such as Amplitude
• Significant experience and understanding of a breadth of analytical methods (descriptive statistics, regression, probability, sampling, hypothesis testing, statistics, social research, operational research and evaluation techniques)
