Data Developer (Power BI) - Portugal General Description
We are looking for professionals who are passionate about telling a story using data in its multiple formats and shapes and are eager to tackle big challenges using modern data tools.
The main focus of this role is to design and implement non-trivial data interfaces and visualizations (dashboards, reports, …) for Fortune 500 companies.
This person will mostly work with a mix of structured and unstructured, and use cloud and other state-of-the-art techniques and tools to help our customers achieve their business objectives.
Responsibilities
Creating and delivering effective data visualizations in Power BI to support business decision making.
Designing required Power BI Semantic Layer on both Power BI (Service) and/or Analysis Services.
Building Power BI data ingestion processes (using M language).
Extending Power BI Semantic Layer with dynamic expressions (DAX language).
Building SQL queries that support the delivery of ad-hoc analysis and people analytics projects.
Engaging with relevant stakeholders to capture and prioritize data visualization requirements.
Connecting these data visualizations with existing data pipelines.
Incorporating new, ready to use, data sources to enrich existing interfaces.
Collaborating with members of your team (eg, data scientist, the IT team, data engineers) on the project’s goals.
Recommending different ways and tools to constantly improve data visualization and insight representations.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software/computer engineering, applied mathematics, or physics statistics.
Advanced use of Microsoft Power BI.
Advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
Experience in building SQL queries.
Exceptional analytical, quantitative, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Experience in using statistical and scripting programming languages (for example Python, R, SQL, VBA, etc).
Ability to design KPI and metrics.
Strong stakeholder management skills and ideally previous experience dealing with a global population.
Solid communication and negotiation skills including a reasonable level of comfort communicating in English with customers. To be considered submit your CV in English and be legally authorized to work in Portugal on Day 1 (this means visa or citizenship and NIF and NISS).
Workplace/Travel Opportunities:
Currently able to work from home anywhere in Portugal, with occasional visits to our Lisbon office.
Occasional local and regional travel opportunities.
