Framestore is an Oscar, Bafta, and Emmy award-winning global creative company working in film, advertising, AR/MR/VR, theme park dark rides, and pre/post visualisation work among many other creative endeavours.


Framestore is bringing together a dedicated digital human development team to work alongside our vastly experienced creatures team, leveraging the latest research and technology to further the field of photoreal digital human creation and animation. In this role, you will be working on applying cutting-edge machine learning research and methodology to VFX production workflows around digital humans.


This is an emerging group containing some of Framestore’s best creatives and researchers from a diverse set of disciplines, working together to explore complex problems that can help transform workflows around digital humans in VFX and Realtime.



What you’ll do

  • Steer the architecture and ongoing development of our Machine Learning toolset for digital human creation.

  • Work closely with pipeline engineers, R&D Tech Leads and Realtime Developers to design and deliver machine learning solutions for digital human production.

  • Keep up to date on developments in machine learning, and participate in discussions concerning strategic development.

  • Help define, collect and organise datasets suitable for machine learning-based research and exploration.

  • Help mentor other Software/Research engineers via code review, an inclusive planning process and technical design reviews.

  • Help ensure strong best practices around agile processes, C++ coding standards and software design.


Requirements

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow).

  • Strong knowledge of linear algebra, statistics, and optimization.

  • Several years of experience in C++ software development.

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering in a media production company or similar

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Being able to explain complex theories, ideas and problems in a clear way


You might also have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, applied math, statistics, machine learning or a related field

  • A strong industry background in either games development or VFX

  • An academic background from research groups or universities with a specialisation in applied media research
