Manager, Analytics Engineering

The Role

At Pango, data is at the core of most of our decision making and our Data Platform is one of the pillars supporting the company’s growth. We are looking for a Manager of Analytics Engineering to help us grow a team of Analytics Engineers focused on designing, developing and maintaining an analytics architecture to meet the enterprise's business analysis and reporting needs. The Analytics Engineers will primarily leverage their expertise in SQL and their data modeling abilities, but are also proficient with Python or a similar language for use-cases where needed.

Responsibilities

  • Grow and manage a team of analytics engineers

  • Coordinate with business stakeholders to identify new data requirements, analysis strategies and reporting mechanisms.

  • Design and build scalable data assets optimized for analytics.

  • Lead team efforts to deliver analytics data assets employing engineering best practices (i.e. version control, CI/CD, documentation).

  • Direct ongoing data validation and auditing.

  • Provide and maintain documentation of business logic and data definitions.

  • Recommend enhancements and modifications to optimize analytics engineering processes.

  • Oversee and participate in production support activities to ensure timely delivery of high quality data

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor team members with 1+ years experience directly overseeing staff

  • 3+ years of experience as a BI or Analytics engineer working with a modern tech stack

  • Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining

  • Track record of architecting, designing and deploying high performance systems with reliable monitoring and logging practices

  • In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL/ELT frameworks

  • Strong communication skills

  • Experience with at least one code management tool such as Git

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum/Kanban development process

  • Experience transforming data in various formats, including JSON, XML, CSV

  • Detailed oriented/self-motivated with the ability to learn and deploy new technology quickly.

    Would be a plus:
     

  • Experience implementing and maintaining a dbt project

  • 2-3 years of Snowflake or Databricks experience

  • 2-3 years of Python and/or Scala experience

  • Experience with OLAP/OLTP queries performance tuning

  • Experience with cloud solutions and services (AWS preferred)

  • Knowledge of workflow management tools (Airflow or similar)
