Big Data Engineer - Core Data

We are looking for a Big Data Engineer who will be part of the Core data team. Who will develop and integrate systems that retrieve, process and analyze data from around the web, in order to ensure its successful delivery to our customers.

So, what will you be doing all day?

Your role as part of the R&D team means your daily responsibilities may include:

1. Developing and maintaining the existing product solutions according to product discovery and requirements 
2. Contributing to and improving the existing infrastructure of code and data pipelines
3. Improving the performance of existing services by exploring new technologies and methods for mutual development
4. Delivering innovative solutions by developing POCs to solve a range of existing and future-oriented problems

This is the perfect job for someone who:

1. Holds a BSc degree in Computer Science, a related technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
2. Has at least 2 years of server-side software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages.
3. Has experience working with at least two of the following: Distributed and parallel systems, information retrieval (scraping), or web application development.
4. Is proficient in one or more general-purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Python, JavaScript\ Nodejs, Java, Scala or Go
5. Is comfortable taking on challenges and learning new technologies, including new coding languages.
6. Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide constant dialog between engineering teams
7. Can easily prioritize tasks and work independently
8. Conveys a strong sense of ownership over the products of the team
9. Is comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Big Data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, HDFS, Airflow, etc
• This includes developing processes/ETLs that create different business KPIs based on similarweb's data, to be displayed on our platform or delivered to customers.
• Being a Data Engineer includes having an understanding of the business context and industries, as well as the responsibility of data methodology and architecture, sanity checks, maintenance etc.
• This role will report to Core Data Team Lead
