What you will do

In this vital role you will engage closely with Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers to optimize infrastructure and pipelines necessary for the deployment of full stack web applications, software, machine learning and data science models. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and systems. Your expertise in software development, programming languages, and system architecture will contribute to the delivery of high-quality software solutions. Your expertise will be essential in managing various process requirements within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) at Amgen. Culturally, a collaborative approach, a strong engagement and an overt sense of ownership are paramount to success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage with Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers to optimize deployments of infrastructure and pipelines required for full stack web applications, software, and machine learning and data science models.

• Manage Configuration Items (CI), Third Pary Risk Assessment (TPRA), Integrated Systems Assessment (ISA), Information Security Risk Assessment (ISRA), and other similar process requirements for Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) at Amgen

• Ensure the effective design, development, and management of software products in compliance with quality standards.

• Set up necessary tools and infrastructure for development, testing, and automation of full stack web applications and software.

• Deploy and manage infrastructure for full stack web applications and software.

• Develop, review, verify, and validate software code and troubleshoot bugs.

• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for full stack web applications and software.

• Manage our external resources and offshore developers

Basic Qualifications:

• Master’s degree and 2 years of experience in Informatics and/or Information Systems with a focus on AI and Machine Learning OR

• Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience in Informatics and/or Information Systems with a strong emphasis on AI and Machine Learning OR

• Associate’s degree and 8 years of experience in Informatics and/or Information Systems, with significant expertise in AI and Machine Learning OR

• High school diploma / GED and 10 years of experience in Informatics and/or Information Systems, with a proven track record in AI and Machine Learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript web application frameworks (ReactJS).

• Experience with databases (Postgres, REDIS) and AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, Batch, etc)

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins) and modern software design practices (low-code solutions, microservices, serverless architecture, containerization).

• Proven experience supporting machine learning and data pipelines.

• Strong familiarity with agile software development methodologies.

• Experience mentoring junior engineers and adhering to best practices for coding, testing, and designing reusable code/components.

• Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage external resources.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
