The opportunity

In this newly created role, you’ll join our Exposure Management team within Central Underwriting as the Senior Data Analyst. You’ll directly support the Head of Exposure Management to shape and deliver the data-driven insight strategy to enable Zurich to understand and manage its accumulation and catastrophe risk exposures across its entire UK Property & Casualty business.
While a background in insurance would be advantageous don’t worry if you don’t have experience of the insurance industry, if you have the key skills, a positive mindset and are motivated we can teach you on the job!
You’ll proactively work with UK and Group stakeholders to significantly enhance existing exposure management processes and create a step change in the monitoring and reporting of UK exposures. You’ll also be responsible for deploying statistical techniques to identify and predict trends in current and future portfolio exposures across all lines of business.

What will you be doing?

Define, create and deliver reports and visualizations to enhance exposure management practice and communicate insights and findings to stakeholders

Use predictive analytical techniques to identify and predict exposure and accumulation trends in the UK’s current and future portfolio mix

Seek out opportunities to enhance the quality of data and insight while incorporating automation and efficiency within the team.

Establish, maintain, and grow strong, collaborative relationships with key internal and external partners to drive ongoing improvements to exposure management and the wider business

Lead, mentor and coach other members of the team to build the analytical capability in the team
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone with a background in data and analytics who can work with multiple stakeholders across different departments with strong communication and influencing skills.
You will also need to demonstrate:
Essential

Experience in a data analytics role
-
Ability to interrogate, manipulate and manage large data sets

Experience with SQL
-
Experience with R or Python
-
Experience of both data preparation and data visualisation

Strong analytical and logical mindset

Insight production and storytelling
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
High degree of flexibility with ability to work within deadlines and manage priorities

Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint
Desirable

Knowledge of Property & Casualty underwriting

Knowledge of Exposure management processes

Experience using PowerBI or Qlik desirable

Ability to coach and develop others

Experience in challenging and influencing others
