What We Are Looking For:
The Fraud Data Analyst is responsible for empowering teams in Bandwidth’s Business Operations organization to understand fraudulent and/or non-compliant traffic patterns and take prompt action by delivering insights and analysis. Build visualizations and alerts, optimize data flows, and help answer big questions. Develop tools, serve as a technical lead for existing monitoring and filtering tools and run analysis for spotting trends, threshold crossings, spikes and anomalies in streaming network data.
What You'll Do:
- Build tooling and reporting to assist internal teams in monitoring network data, identifying fraudulent activity, and executing mitigation and best practice exercises against non-compliant and/or illegal calls and text messages.
- Implement new statistical and/or mathematical methods to prevent, detect and mitigate non-compliant traffic on our networks.
- Serve as a technical lead for internal messaging and voice call filter tools, writing rules and understanding, at a detailed level, the functionality of any third party tool utilized by the team.
- Work with data engineering and product teams to optimally extract network data from various databases, load new data sources and address pipeline changes as needed.
- Create automated anomaly detection systems and consistently track their performance.
- Conduct thorough data mining using state-of-the-art methods.
- Understand Fraud Mitigation needs; devise analytics and reporting solutions. Analyze and report on network data with third party sources of information.
- Conduct data processing, cleansing, and verification of integrity of data used for analysis.
- Support all products exposed to fraud and abuse.
What You Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or related field.
- 0-3 years practical experience with data analytics including interpreting data, analyzing results, identifying patterns and trends in datasets, and reporting of results back to the business through various mediums including curated and maintained reporting and business intelligence assets.
- Familiarity with databases such as Snowflake and MariaDB and comfort working with large-scale datasets. Strong knowledge of SQL and relational data including exposure to complex data models. Practical experience using a business intelligence application such as Sisense, Looker, Domo, Tableau, Kibana, or PowerBI; certifying, maintaining, and troubleshooting dashboards created in same.
- Working experience in one or more common data analysis or data manipulation languages (python preferred) and associated libraries / toolkits such as numpy, pandas, and scikit.
- Statistics skills, including distributions, statistical testing, and regression.
- Experience identifying patterns and debugging data problems and anomalies, driving ever-cleaner data for reporting layers.
- Proficiency conducting research and development of statistical models for data analysis.
- A constant eye for automating, improving, and documenting internal processes and workflows.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
Bonus Points:
- Python. Regular Expressions. Understanding of SIP protocol, robocalls, toll fraud, SPAM, international fraud techniques, and prevention.
- Can build dashboards using near real-time data and build graphs/charts to visualize and alarm on near-real time data. Understanding of machine learning / AI techniques.
