What you’ll do

Your engineering ingenuity, wonder & magic in coming up with a powertrain that supports the concepts will be instrumental in shaping the perception of Scout as a brand, as well as gaining peer admiration in the automotive industry.  

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Ensure that all vehicle systems comply with regulatory standards, and obtain necessary certifications to fulfill legal requirements, environmental regulations, and safety standards and to ensure the performance, efficiency, and compliance of Scout’s vehicles.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of, understand and interpret regulatory standards and homologation requirements for vehicles and components.
  • Stay updated on regional regulations such as FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard) in the United States and Canada, and other relevant regulations, standards, and best practices to ensure adherence to changing requirements.
  • Coordinate the homologation change management and the homologation vehicle management incl. parts checks
  • Develop and maintain all homologation-relevant processes and workflow instructions as well as efficient methods, tools and plans to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and audits
  • Support the preparation of documentation, reports, and technical data for the submission to regulatory agencies for homologation and certification purposes.
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and manufacturing, to address any compliance-related issues or concerns and support them in resolving any non-compliance issues identified during the homologation processes.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure compliance during the development of new vehicle systems and components.
  • Continuously improve internal certification processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Be involved in other related tasks / activities as required.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

What you’ll bring

  • Relevant degree such as bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university, Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in vehicle homologation or regulatory compliance and specialized training in certification processes, standards, and regulations and data analysis, and project management is highly desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant regulatory and homologation standards and requirements, such as ECE, FMVSS, CCC, ADR, or other regional regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and components, including powertrain, chassis, electrical, and electronics.
  • Familiarity with testing protocols and equipment for safety, emissions, noise, and other relevant evaluations.
  • Professional certifications related to vehicle systems or regulatory compliance are a plus.
  • Proficient in using relevant software tools for data analysis, such as MATLAB, Excel, or similar applications.
  • Advanced project steering and coordination skills to practice independent project management in a defined certification scope.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within established timelines.
  • Motivated engineer wanting to work at the cutting edge of electric vehicle technical design, create new ideas and solutions, enjoy hands-on testing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ownership, self-motivated, problem solving, analytical, team player, innovative, creative, communication skills and ability to develop & mutually thrive in working relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work in a truly cross-functional and global environment.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $110,000-$130,000

Internal leveling code: IC9
